HOW DO I FIND OUT THE CURRENT PRICE OF SCRAP METAL?
The best way to find out the current price of scrap metal is to call our yard at 678-230-7976. We will be able to give you a quick price quote on all of the common metals on our price sheet. Sometimes odd type scrap metals such as zinc, manganese, or metal turnings may require us to check with our buyers and call you back. Oftentimes, nonferrous metals (copper, stainless steel, aluminum, cans, brass, etc.) can change daily or weekly while ferrous metals (steel, cast iron, etc.) usually change monthly. Remember to call between our operating hours of 7 am and 5 pm when we have staff manning the phones.
HOW DO I SELL MY SCRAP METAL?
When you arrive at Taylor’s Junkyard, you will want to come to the office and tell us what type of metal you have. If you do not know exactly what type or types of scrap metal you have, we can look at your load and determine that very quickly. If you have nonferrous scrap metal such as bare copper, insulated copper, aluminum, stainless steel, brass, etc. we will direct you to our small scale where the material will be weighed. From there you will be given a weight ticket to take back to the office where you will receive payment. If you have steel scrap you will weigh on our truck scale beside the office and return back to the office for payment after weighing out empty. Steel scrap may include shred, cars, short steel, cast iron, and other various types of ferrous metal.
I NEED A ROLLOFF FOR SCRAP METAL OR NEED MY SCRAP METAL PICKED UP
Taylor’s Junkyard has several roll off trucks to service both small and large business accounts. We also pick up scrap metal in roll off containers from individuals who have a large amount of scrap material. We pick-up cars with tow trucks. We do not pick up small amounts of scrap metal; our best suggestion is to have a friend with a pickup truck bring us the metal.
MY BUSINESS HAS SCRAP METAL TO SELL
We buy scrap from many businesses at Taylor’s Junkyard. If you have a business and would like pricing on your scrap metal, give us a call and speak directly with one of the owners (Scott or Lloyd Taylor). We do preferred pricing depending on quantity and market situations. Also, if we have a copy of your business license on file, we can pay you cash.
WHAT DO I NEED TO SELL SCRAP METAL AT TAYLOR’S JUNKYARD?
Taylor’s Junkyard stays in compliance with all scrap laws regulated by our government. Currently, what you need as a seller of scrap metal is a valid ID. We have means to take care of the rest of the scrap laws on our end. In order to recycle your steel, copper, aluminum, or whatever you may have, you need to first show valid ID. Our friendly staff will direct you upon arrival to the correct procedure.
HOW CAN I TELL WHAT TYPE OF SCRAP METAL I HAVE?
There is no fool proof way to describe every scrap metal item conclusively. However, there are several broad categories that most metals fit into. The easiest way to determine basic metal types is with a magnet.
Ferrous metals are those primarily consisting of iron. Such metals make up most of what we see at our scrap yards. Ferrous metals are magnetic. We classify and buy ferrous metal in four major groups; short iron (clean metal cut less than 4 feet in length that is at least 1/8”thick), cars (normal sized automobiles), shred (appliances, light iron, tin, unprepared metals, etc.), and heavy unprepared (dozers, large equipment, oversized structural, etc).
Nonferrous metals are those metals that are not composed primarily of iron and are not magnetic. These items are bought in more refined categories, but basically include copper, scrap aluminum, irony aluminum, brass, lead, stainless, and aluminum cans. Some assistance may be required in telling the exact type and classification of nonferrous metal. We will be happy to give you our opinion over the phone, or you may bring it to us for exact determination.
Other items that do not fall entirely into the ferrous or nonferrous groups are often priced reflecting both groups. For instance, an electric motor is copper and steel and is therefore priced between the two. Car batteries and catalytic converters are other such examples.
